Brief

Planys was engaged by Scotoiler via Scottish Enterprise to help the company identify target markets for new industrial applications of its unique motorcycle chain oiling technology in support of its application for a SMART Award. Planys Market Portfolio Analysis was used to identify, characterise and compare nine potential industrial applications.

Market Portfolio Analysis – analysis of nine potential industrial applications comparing each by size and profit potential against Scotoiler’s ability to access and engage in the market. The results were then calibrated against available market research and company reports to identify target market characteristics such as size, growth rate and competitive influences.

Outcome

The final report recommended a combined products and maintenance services proposition for the chain drive industry focused on minimising very significant downtime and energy costs and engaging global OEM drive chain manufacturers as distribution partners. Scotoiler were successful in their application for a SMART Award.
