Planys (an old Scots word meaning 'supply' or 'replenish') was set up in 2006 by Joe Henry and Gordon Venters, both experienced international business professionals.

Having moved from the assured world of global corporations into the sharp end of small start-up and emerging businesses, we were both convinced that, in many cases, the fundamentals of business growth were simply wrong. Time and again we have seen complete imbalance between the technical and commercial development of exciting, young, technology-inspired businesses. This results in poor product planning, lack of market data, dissatisfied customers (if any) and, often, failed investments. Usually the sales guy gets the blame.
